GEOGRAPHY

A mountainous spine extends from Baja's northwest to the southeast. Mountains give way to a broad plain that forms the great Vizcaino Desert, home to the largest protected area in Latin America. To the West lies the Pacific Ocean. To the East, the famous Sea of Cortez.

The Baja Peninsula supports four ecosystems: desert, wetlands, woodlands and tropical forests.
