| Broome is the southern gateway to the Kimberley.
Located on a peninsula in the far north of Western
Australia, Broome is a small town nestled on the shores of Roebuck
Bay where the bush meets the turquoise waters of Roebuck Bay and
the Indian Ocean.
ABORIGINAL PEOPLE
This area is home to the Yawara people.
PEARLS
Established as a pearling port in the 1800s, Broome continues to
have a brisk trade. Pearl showrooms line the streets of Chinatown.
BIRDING
Roebuck Bay is regarded as the best spot in the country to visit
shore birds. The Swan Estuary Marine Park is a great spot to view
migratory wading birds.
MARKETS
The Broome Courthouse Markets are held Saturday from April to October
at the Broome Courthouse between 8am - 1pm.
MUSEUMS
The Broome
Historical Society Museum, 67 Robinson Street, documents the
European settlement and Aboriginal history.
