Gold Coast City is located in the South-east corner of Queensland. Best advice ... learn to surf or get a tan.

Gold Coast City is the second most populous city in the state and the seventh most populous city in the country. The city stretches nearly 60 kilometers (38 miles) from Beenleigh to Coolangatta on the border of New South Wales.

BEACHES

The Gold Coast offers city-by-the-surf action. Popular beaches include Coolangatta, Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise.

TOURISM INDUSTRY

In the late 1950s and 60s, the development of the City's beach strip was rapid. Holiday houses, motels and guesthouses were built to capture the fun and holiday atmosphere.

Plans are underway to make Gold Coast the country's top destination for businesses conferences. According to the Gold Coast Bulletin, Australian business tourism, comprising meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions, is a $17.36 billion industry.

NEARBY

UNESCO selected Lamington National Park as a World Heritage Site.

Tweed Heads and sections of Beaudesert are also commonly referred to as part of the Gold Coast region.

VISITING?

TRANSPORTATION -- Gold Coast Airport (code: OOL) is also known as Coolangatta Airport.

Locally, north-south transportation is a simpler task than travelling east and west by public transport.
