The town is located on the shore of Lake Avándaro, which
is flooded farm land, with a dam that was built to produce electricity
for the Mexico City.
The town has a beautiful central plaza, markets and art galleries.
Visitation is highest on weekends and many shops are closed during
the week.
The San Francisco Church was built in the 16th century and is home
to the town's patron saint.
NATURAL WORLD
The lake and large pine forests that surround it make the area
popular for outdoor activities that tend to have a focus here, including
biking, hang-gliding, sailing, skiing, hiking, and rock climbing.
During the winter months (December-March) the surrounding areas
becomes the nesting grounds for the monarch
butterflies.
WEATHER
Valle de Bravo has a temperate semi-humid climate, with an average
year-round temperature of 17 C (63 F).
