takes place in October 2008.
The annual festival of performing arts and culture
based in Guanajuato
City and celebrates the cultural contributions of Spanish novelist
and playwright Miguel
de Cervantes.
The Cervantino
Festival began when students of the University of Guanajuato
presented the entremeses (farces) of Cervantes in the city's colonial
plazas. The festival now attracts artists from around the country
and the world. The three-week event has become a model for other
medium-sized cities who see art as a magnet for tourism
