ZOCALO

The town plaza's central garden -- El Jardin -- is a beautiful sculpted garden that becomes quite noisy at sunset when the grackles arrive to roost in the sculpted trees.

BOTANICAL GARDEN

Perhaps the best way to see the cacti is at the El Charco del Ingenio Botanical Garden. This private 250-acre park boasts more than 9,000 cacti and succulents (more than 1,500 species) collected throughout Mexico. The gardens are about 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) from downtown.

MIGRATION

The city draws warmth-seeking citizens of Canada and the United States throughout the year, though notably in the winter months.
