FEATURED SLIDESHOW: Rural Tourism Fair

More than 300 people took part in the 2005 Rural Tourism Fair, making this our largest event yet in Oaxaca, Mexico. The fair provided ample opportunity for dialogue and information-sharing among travelers and locals.

ABOUT THE FAIR

A small festival among friends, the 2005 Rural Tourism Fair was the fifth annual event co-created by Planeta.com in Oaxaca City. The event took place Saturday, February 12 at Instituto Amigos del Sol.

The fair brought together local travel providers, community leaders, media, government officials and inspired travelers for a few magical hours. The event showcased options travelers have in exploring Mexico's rural countryside.

HIGHLIGHTS

Visitors to the fair had direct access to local tour operators, community representatives and artisans. It was an easy way of learning about places to visit and how to travel in a responsible manner.

Among the participants were students and professors from universities in Veracruz and Chiapas.
