Oaxaca City Zócalo, April 2005
In April 2005 one of Oaxaca City's giant Indian Laurel trees was
unrooted and fell against the Government Palace during a renovation
of the Zócalo.
Witnesses say that the tree was about to be destroyed by a worker
with a chain saw before local environmentalists guarded the tree.
