AIRPORT TRANSPORT
Transport Terrestre is the authorized service for transportation
to and from the airport. There is collective van transport and more
expensive individual service available. You can buy the tickets
to town from the airport or make arrangements to return to the airport
from the office downtown at Alameda de León #1G. Phone: 514-4350.

CAR RENTAL
There are several businesses that rent cars.
TAXIS
It is easy to catch a taxi at more than 30 'sitios'
throughout the city. There is an additional tariff between 10pm-5am.
Taxis can be hired for individual trips or by the hour. If you are
hiring a taxi by the hour, be clear about how long services will
be required.
FYI, the oldest sitio is the Alameda with service
provided from the north side of the Alameda
Park.
Dia de taxista is August 12.
TAXI COLLECTIVES
For travel to towns north and south of town, there are two taxi
stands near the Abasto(s) Market. The taxis offer inexpensive collective service.
Heading south? The taxis on Diagonal Mercadores (at the corner
of the Periferico Sur) go to Ocotlán,
Zimatlan, Xoxo, Zaachila and Ejutla.
Heading north? The taxis on Trujano (at the corner of the Periferico
Sur) go Atzoma, San Pablo Huitzo, Telix, San Agustín Etla
and other Etla towns.
Heading east? Taxis and buses can be hailed one block east of the
baseball
stadium on Niños Heroes. (Photo)
There is not a long line of waiting vehicles, rather the vehicles
pass by en route to Tule,
Teotitlán
del Valle, Santa
Ana del Valle, Tlacolula
and Mitla.
Smaller towns with direct transport include San Dionisio Ocotepec,
San Juan Teitipac, San Sebastian Teitipac, Tlalixtac, Santiago Matatlan,
Sando Domingo Tomaltepec, San Jeronimo Tlacochahuaya, Santa Cruz
Papalutla, San Andres Huayapam, San Agustin Yatareni, San Pedro
Cajonos and Rojas de Cuauhtemoc.
TRAIN STATION
The train station is no
longer in operation. The station now serves as a museum
and a natural products market, La Estación a few days a week.
