| La Ventanilla is a coastal
village located in an extensive and important area of mangrove around
the Tonameca Lagoon.
Families work toward conservation by offering a number of tourism
services.
They also have a commitment to conservation, breeding crocodiles
for release into the wild and reforesting the mangroves. Tourists
can participate in nighttime patrols to collect turtle eggs and
save them from hunters.
FLORA AND FAUNA
Canoe trips make it easy to view the diversity of birdlife, including
the carpenter bird, kingfisher, pato buzo and an immense variety
of herons, as well as reptiles such as crocodiles and iguanas in
their natural habitat.
The next place to visit is the vivero, an invaluable aid for the
reforestation of the swamp.
