| Tamaulipas is a charming state with a wealth
of natural beauty and local traditions and is located in the
northeastern corner of the country along the Gulf
of Mexico. Towns of Nuevo Laredo, Reynosa and Matamoros
are all important gateways in the Borderlands.
The state is justly famous for its section of the Sierra Madre
Oriental, particularly the El
Cielo Biosphere Reserve.
Tamaulipas borders the U.S. state of Texas to the north, the
Gulf of Mexico to the east, Veracruz to the south, San Luis
Potosí to the southwest, and Nuevo León to the
west.
The capital of Tamaulipas, Ciudad
Victoria, is a modern city with a beautiful historic center.
Another major city, Tampico,
is located on the Panuco River and is the second most important
port in the country. |
