| The city of Córdoba
(elevation: 800 meters, 2,821 feet) is a modern city with great
views of the nearby mountains and volcanoes in eastern Veracruz.
It is an industrial hub for sugar milling and coffee processing.
NATURAL WORLD
The nearby Sierra del Gallego is a mix of rainforest and coffee
plantations. Interested in bird watching? More than 150 species
make their home in the surrounding area surrounding.
CULTURAL WORLD
The Plaza de Armas was designed as an English garden.
The kiosk is of French design. The Municipal Palace was built at
the end of the 19th century, the building mixes French and Italian
design.
SPORTS
The Cafeteros baseball team returned to Córdoba
in June 2006 after an absence of several years. The Cafeteros play
at Beisbolrama Park.
HISTORY
The city was named after Diego Fernández de
Córdoba, Marquis of Guadalcázar. Additionally Córdoba
is an important place for marketing and refining tropical fruits.
Córdoba was the provisional capital of the
country during the 1914 U.S. invasion.
