We can't wait for miracles to happen. If there are problems
that have to be solved, if we want our lives to be better, then
we have to do something for ourselves. If we're not taking action
to make our life better, if we're not walking, if our feet are
not moving, then there's no footprint for people to follow.
- Oliver Mtukudzi, World

What are you going to so that you can arrive on your deathbed
50 years from now with a big grin on your face that says 'lord
sakes that was a ripper. that was a good life well lived.' For
me that means engaging meaningfully with what I think I am here
on the planet to do.

What unifies a movement? After we go home from the demonstration,
are we still a movement? Only if we're grounded in a shared
vision
Having a vision means we have some fundamental
idea of how we want the world to be
A movement articulates
something for the future
It's not enough to express our
individualities. What kind of a world do you want for everybody?
And how can that world be demonstrated?

Look ahead for open spaces. Let young people be given the opportunity
of taking an active and not merely a passive interest in games.
It is often said that our young men are too much addicted to
outdoor games - cricket, football etc., but I think the contrary
is the case. They are possibly too much addicted to looking
at games, and that is not a healthy exercise. They like to congregate
in crowds, often cooped up in enclosures, and that leads to
barracking, cigarette smoking and even gambling on the result
of the game. A remedy for the gambling evil and an encouragement
of manly sports with the physical development and moral discipline
which healthy competition affords, lies not mainly in places
like the Sydney Cricket Ground. I look upon that institution
as the place of spectacle, as the university of sport.

A desire
path could be a short cut through waste ground, across the
corner of a civic garden or down an embankment. They were expressions
of free will, 'paths with a passion', an alternative to the
strictures of railings, fences and walls that turned individuals
into powerless apathetic automatons. On desire paths you could
break out, explore, feel your way across the landscape.
- Nick Crane, Two degrees west
Life is like a piano. What you get out of it depends on how

Please stop referring to yourselves as consumers. Consumers
are different than citizens. Consumers do not have obligations,
responsibilities and duties to their fellow human beings. As
long as you are using the word 'consumer' in the public discussion
you are degrading the discussion we are having and we are going
to continue being clueless.
