CONTACTING THE AUTHOR
This dissertaion was written in the year that I spent livng and studying in Ecuador as part of my degree in French and Hispanic studies. I lived in Quito and I spent the first part of the year studying various courses at the Catholic University there before travelling in the Oriente to research the essay, including time as a volunteer on a project run by the indigenous NGO, CONFENIAE, to teach English for tourism. The bibliography was written on an old Macintosh and is therefore not included yet.
I graduated from the University of Liverpool in July 1996 and am currently livng and working in France and looking into ways of pursuing my interest in ecotourism, through a masters courses in the UK in the area of environment and sustainable development and through a tourism project with friends in Ecuador.
