ABOUT THE DIALOGUE

The Ethical Travel Dialogue reviewed efforts around the world to make the tourism industry more accountable, more ethical and more satisfying to all.

Ethical, responsible, fair trade, pro poor; call it what you will, ethical tourism is part of today's tourism development agenda. Small community based tourism initiatives market themselves on their ethical credentials and the United Nations strives to implement responsible tourism programmes.

But what is ethical tourism exactly and who gets to decide what is ethical and what isn't?

TOPICS

g What is 'ethical' travel?

g How can tourism be used to alleviate poverty?

g How should ethical products and services be marketed?

g How should an ethical traveler select places to visit?
