SLIDESHOW

Planeta.com has launched a new collective photo gallery on Flickr as part of our endeavor to simplify the use of Web 2.0 tools to enhance our appreciation of responsible travel and ecotourism.

The Re-Imagining South American Ecotourism Group group features pictures of environmental conservation, outdoor recreation and ecotourism in South America.

YOUR TURN

We would like to see your pictures of

National parks
City parks
Recycling
Environmental education
Signage
Wildlife
Guides
Interpretation

To share your pictures, you'll need to be registered on Flickr. Selected photos will be incorporated onto the South America pages on Planeta.com, the global journal of practical ecotourism.

BACKGROUND

In order to facilitate networking of professionals working to improve ecotourism in South America, Planeta.com hosted the 2000 Re-Imagining South America Ecotourism Conference. This was Planeta's first formal e-conference (see index).

Since 1994 Planeta.com has documented the ecotourism work throughout South America.

The development of the new photo gallery is the latest in our work to facilitate environmental education, research and professional networking.

DEFINITIONS

One of the most powerful tools of Web 2.0 is the Flickr photo site. What is Web 2.0? Simply, it is the second generation of web-based services that emphasize participant contribution (user generated content), online collaboration and sharing among users.
