PLANETA

Voting begins for 2008 Book of the Year Award

PLANETA FORUM

Publication date: November 2008

PHOTO GALLERY: Books

Planeta.com is seeking your nominations for our third-annual book of the year award. What is the best place-based guidebook of 2008? The best scholarly work on tourism? The best book on the environment? Travel? Planeta.com asks readers what you consider the must-reads.

"This is our third annual contest for Book of the Year Award," said Planeta.com founder Ron Mader. "Most likely we will expand the award next year to cover other media, including electronic publication which is becoming quite popular." Mader added that the award provided an opportunity to improve contact with authors and publishers.

"What we saw before the award was that authors and publishers were in the dark when it came to making the most effective use of Planeta.com and engaging our readers. The award allows us to update our bibliographies, converse with authors in the Planeta Forum and develop a supportive conversation that allows us to discuss in depth topics such as place-based journalism, food, health and building communities and the critical need to address environmental issues, particularly climate change.
