| In October 2011 Planeta.com
is challenging the guides and tour operators featured in our World
Travel Directory -- www.planeta.com/worldtravel.html
-- and schools featured in our Directory of Spanish Language Schools
-- www.planeta.com/schoolist.html
-- to upgrade their web presence with an upgraded use of Social Web.
Planeta.com is updating our in-house directories with a direct
links to channels including blogs, Facebook, Flickr, Foursquare,
Google, LinkedIn, SlideShare,TripAdvisor, Twitter, wikis and YouTube.
As of Friday, October 28st, we have made a dozen edits of the directories,
four of our associates are editing the wiki and we have been tweeting
and retweeting colleagues on Twitter and liking up a storm on Facebook.
"Adding links is the easy bit," said Planeta.com founder
Ron Mader.
"We also welcome suggestions about how to make the most of
these channels. Via Workshop 21 as other online webinars we're sharing
tips on how to make the most of an expanded web presence. Some of
our colleagues are frankly baffled by the ever-changing terminology
-- be it geolocation
or Social Web.
Don't let the lingo be an obstacle! Let's talk this out, even if
we have to unpack some Buzzword
Bingo!'
Do local businesses know how to 'claim their place' on Google
or Foursquare? Are operations confident in sharing their own story?
In October we're challenging our associates in being more social
using new media. We're happy to schedule skype calls to brainstorm
about how to tell one's story
and upgrade overall web presence."
Mader added that Planeta.com is soliciting new partners. "As
we approach 2012
we'd like some new blood in the directories. We'd also like to brainstorm
about the future look of Planeta.com. It's due for a major upgrade.
For the businesses we feature in our directories, there are a veritable
plethora of benefits, including online webinars and a front seat
at our online conferences, including the upcoming Responsible
Tourism Week."
Planeta readers, please help talk up the directories and if you
can, please use social media (such as twitter and facebook) to share
the news. The Tweet button is in the left-column on every page of
Planeta.com and the Planeta Wiki.
