| Day
of the Dead is a holiday celebrated throughout the Americas
and combines ancient indigenous traditions and modern fanfare. It's
a whimsical and serious holiday that takes place between October
31st and November 2nd. Mexico
conserves the authenticity of the festivals, particularly in Oaxaca.
2011
This year we are collaborating on the ground with local language
schools and markets and documenting what's taking place. Featured
is the work of Oaxaca artist Boris
Spider and we invite visitors and locals in Oaxaca to share
photos of his work in the Oaxaca
Today photography group.
The Muertos Guide
on the Oaxaca Wiki features
more than a dozen free and pay events with edits from a half dozen
editors.
From late October to early November look for brand new photos,
podcasts, live-streaming video (Nov 1 6-8pm) and a curated
collection of local lingo about Muertos. Details
