Planeta.com continues to explore the breadth and depth of travel in Las Vegas. We made an announcement last year.

"In 2012 Planeta.com continues to focus our attention and engagement on city environments and the role cities play as critical hubs to rural areas," said Planeta.com Founder Ron Mader.

Mader - a featured speaker at the Responsible Tourism in Cities Conference held in Durban, South Africa - is keen on working with locals and visitors in crafting new ways of consciously exploring the world.

"Much of the traditional 'tourism' offering around the globe is stale and unable or uninterested in keeping up with innovation," Mader. "Visitors who are not inspired don't make the trek. Locals who do not receive benefits from travel are less hospitable to visitors. Stale tourism leads to a vicious cycle for everyone. What we're keeping track of around the world is the rise of conscious travel and responsible tourism."

FIRST FRIDAY

We are keeping an eye on Las Vegas the first Friday of every month and the second Thursday for its Green Drinks!

SOCIAL MEDIA

Phase Two of Planeta.com's Las Vegas coverage includes more innovative uses of social media, championing local causes via social media channels Facebook, Flickr, Twitter and the Planeta wiki.
