The 2012 Maori Language
Week is July 23-29. Mark your calendar!
One of the challenges many indigenous languages face is getting
people to use this in conversation. So every year New Zealand
celebrates Maori Language Week as a time to recognize te reo
Maori (the Maori language) and to integrate Maori phrases in
everyday life.
2012 marks
the 25th anniversary for Maori Language Week and the organizers
have chosen as the theme Arohatia te Reo, which translates as
Cherish the Maori language.
