| Citing online documents is important for anyone
conducting research and who needs to document where and when
they found their sources. Provide the source of the document
(the URL) and a date when the document was viewed.
Why? Many features are 'works-in-progress' so what you may
read may look different at a later date. An example for quoting
from material published on Planeta.com would look like this:
Mader, Ron. "Reflections from the World Bank," Planeta.com.
http://www.planeta.com/ecotravel/tour/worldbank.html.
January 2, 2007
When possible, email the author or publisher and request permission
to cite the material. It's a good idea to provide either the
excerpt or the wording of the citation as it will appear so
that an author or web publisher can let you know if there is
a more current version online.
