Finding people -- and being found -- is a challenge on the Web.

It's easy to search for one's name or someone else. For those who have articles on this site or who are quoted on Planeta.com, conduct an internal search.

TWITTER

People using Twitter answer the question of 'What are you doing?' Some say that the 'action' is moving from blogs to Twitter. To what degree does the lack of technical continuity signal a disinterest in maintaining relationships, particularly with individuals who are not wired 24/7?

Says Steve Bridger - Web strategies need to be built around participation, not content.

A FEW WORDS ABOUT LINKED IN

LinkedIn is an online network of more than 11 million experienced professionals from around the world, representing 150 industries. Curious fact. More people have joined LinkedIn than live in Sweden

Members create a profile that summarizes professional accomplishments and create connections to trusted contacts.

I am listed on LinkedIn but I confess to not checking it that often. Plus, I am fairly strict about people I link to, mostly those I have worked with in the past. Those who have impressed me the most receive a testimonial.

Sites such as this appeal to those who wish to create virtual social networks. That said, wouldn't it be helpful to have a site more on a par with something like LinkedOut which would allow people to raise red flags about colleagues who do not pay on time or fail to make good on their promises?
