BEYOND ANALYTICS
Some operators use a program called Click
Tracks Optimizer, finding it works better than Google Analytics,
because it allows them to examine individual links, pages and
visitation across the whole site. It also gives good general
reports on the top referrers and top pages during selected time
periods.
ALEXA
Alexa Web Search
is free and accessible to the public. I like the graphs, though
there have been a few times where I have seen that the data
does not correspond with Planeta traffic.
Alexa has a fairly small sampling of the Web -- with one requirement
being the installation of their toolbar. Could be handy ...
but many consider such a thing an invasion of privacy. For me,
I can't even download the tool -- not available for Mac
user.
Alexa has been criticized as being too easy to manipulate.
Says one colleague: "Alexa only takes a very very small
sample of the total browser population, and my rating has gone
down even as our traffic has increased steadily since the sampling
rate is just to small."
