Missouri’s diverse geography ranges from the Ozark Mountains in the south to the rolling hills of the northern plains. The eponymous Mississippi River has been an important transportation route for centuries. The state is also home to a number of national parks and monuments, including the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, and the Mark Twain National Forest.
