VIII Palenque Round Table 2017 – Chan Ch’e’en, THE HEAVEN AND THE WELL: Sustainability of the Mayan cities
The VIII Round Table of Palenque was dedicated to the discussion of the sustainability of the Mayan cities, will took place November 5 – 9, 2017. The event was dedicated to the memory of the eminent archaeologist Roberto García Moll.
Referring to the title of the event, Chan Ch’e’en, the sky and the well, the general director of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), Diego Prieto Hernández, said that this expression alludes to the civic-ceremonial center of the ancient Mayan cities, where the palaces and temples of the main gods, the bodies of water, the underground channels and the well, with the goods of the sky: the sun and the rain.
