Essay
Informal conversations are community-driven, whether that community is global or local in nature – we talk about what other people are talking about. When it comes to making policy, regulations, laws, or metaphorical roadmaps, something is missing. Trump talks about building a wall when most people on the border have different ideas of attaining border security. The community or base T addresses is one eager for a solution to problem A, without considering the alphabet of alternatives and options.
This is contemporary politics. But I think the notion that many initiatives – Global Goals, Campaigns, International Years … lack the connection to the local.
The challenge for us has been to listen to communities and local voices, many of whom strongly disagree and dislike one another.
