Hoodoo = Tall, thin spire of rock that protrudes from the bottom of an arid drainage basin. The park is known for its thousands of hoodoos, referred to locally as goblins. Goblin Valley State Park and nearby Bryce Canyon National Park contain some of the largest occurrences of hoodoos in the world.
