Where do we find reliable and helpful information about travel and tourism? Whether it’s in our own back yard or across the globe, it is sometimes challenging finding the official tourism organizations. // ¿Dónde encontramos información confiable y útil sobre viajes y turismo? Ya sea en nuestro propio patio trasero o en todo el mundo, a veces resulta complicado encontrar las organizaciones de turismo oficiales.
In this guide we document official institutions online the social web and ask how well these institutions engage, interact, and respond to visitors and locals. It’s a big ask, so please help us with the cyber housekeeping. Post comments on this page and/ our Google Doc – docs.google.com/document/d/1in1daL9ib2QvG1OVznTZKE-KeGY12RLJDh-OayIVQF0

Specific deep dive features on Planeta spotlight travel and tourism in Argentina, Aotearoa New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, China, Ecuador, Germany, Guatemala, Japan, Mexico, Perú, and the USA.
Wish List
We would love to see more current information on government portals about local culture – including food, sport and markets, as well as upcoming events for the public and for specialized audiences, aka business travel and workshops. We would like to see more details about ecotourism, responsible travel, conscious travel, and Indigenous tourism services.
Bonus points: More attribution-sharealike photos on old school Flickr
Bottom Line: By our standards, the most effective accounts address multiple audiences with respect, inform locals and visitors, show behind-the-scenes management, and offer ways to connect and rethink tourism together.
